Production power in Puebla: Automotive supplier Huf Mexico is aiming for more than 150,000 units

Just like recently at Huf Mexico: at the end of April, the site put its fourth production line into operation. This increased the weekly production capacity to 110,000 key fobs and ID systems - a new record for the Puebla site! But this is not the end of the story, as the team is already aiming for a weekly production rate of around 120,000 components in June, and more than 150,000 by the end of the year, fulfilling customer´s agreements.

Achieving goals with Total Productive Maintenance and the Plan-Do-Check-Act method

An important prerequisite for achieving this ambitious goal is the close coordination of all functions at Huf Mexico. To this end, the team in Puebla has implemented several measures:

  1. Reducing downtime on the production line thanks to quick solutions to fix technical problems using the Total Productive Maintenance method (TPM). The team benefits from the regular analysis processes carried out by the technical and maintenance staff as part of their daily meetings.
  2. Introduction of additional shifts to maximize production capacity.
  3. Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA), continuous analysis of the causes of production errors or scrap. To this end, the engineering and quality management teams work together in their daily meetings to develop solutions for continuous improvement.
  4. Weekly meetings driven by the Plant Manager with all the staff to assess the achievements and opportunities from the previous week.
