Timisoara, Feb 21st, 2020. Today, Huf, the leading supplier of locking, access and authorization systems for the global automotive industry, celebrated the official inauguration of new premises for its Romanian development center in Timisoara together with employees, the mayor and representatives of the town’s universities and regional administration. At the opening event, Huf also announced that Huf Timisoara shall become one of the company’s main development centers.
“To keep our competitive edge as leading specialist for secure access and authorization systems, we are reorganizing our global R+D network to ensure that we provide a constant flow of innovations and serve our customers with top quality products at best cost”, said Michael Supe, Chief Operating Officer and member of the Management Board of Huf at the inauguration event. “In this context, the extension of our development center in Timisoara at the new premises in the ISHO Campus area plays an important role,” Supe added.
The Huf R+D team in Timisoara moved in December 2019 to the ISHO Campus, which is projected by Mulberry Development. The area comprises not only a series of ultra-modern building complexes with around 50,000 square meters of office space, but is also providing excellent infrastructure – from public transport over parking lots to shopping malls, restaurants and a medical center. Due for completion in 2021, ISHO is already regarded as a new central hub for the city, near to the historic city center and the universities. As Timisoara is well known as one of the IT hotspots of the country Huf has settled down at the perfect place to reach young talents for software development and various engineering faculties.
Currently, more than 120 employees work for Huf in Timisoara. The new R+D premises provide space for roughly 200 developers across 2,000 square meters. In recent months, Huf Romania S.R.L. has increased its efforts to recruit young talents in order to expand the team to the planned size. The open space approach and excellent technical infrastructure at ISHO provide an ideal working environment and enable new ways of collaboration on site in Romania as well as in the global R+D network of Huf. The Romanian teams are working on software projects for customers like Audi, BMW, Ford, GM and PSA, developing passive entry systems, kick sensors, or innovative mobility solutions.
“Since we moved into the new building, our employees already have given positive feedback on their new working environment. Our new address also has helped to hire new highly qualified staff”, said Bogdan Iliescu, head of the Huf development team in Timisoara. “The new location in combination with exciting software and other development projects, attractive benefit packages, continuous training for all employees and tailor-made programs to develop young leaders, make Huf an employer of choice in this highly competitive environment in Timisoara. To win the war for talents, we also take care of good relationships with the academic institutions here in Timisoara,” he added.
“As representative of the Polytehnica University, I am happy to see that companies like Huf are offering such promising career options to our young graduates in the software and engineering disciplines. With various initiatives, we strengthen the bonds to global companies like Huf who rely on our talent pool. We also take responsibility to support progress by constantly adapting our curricula in line with the technological trends. As an academic institution, we are proud to contribute to Timisoara’s reputation as one of Europe’s leading Cities of Science”, said Prof. Dr. Radu Vasiu, President of the Senate of Polytehnica University in a keynote at the event.
